La First Street Taqueria

La First Street Taqueria celebrated its Grand Re-Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday January 21, 2015 in front of their location at 1843 ½ East First Street. Owners Mayra and Jerry Vasquez are joined by Councilman Jose Huizar, Mayor Garcetti Area Rep., Patricia Alarcon, Boyle Heights Chamber President, Mike Zeledon, LABSC Manager Henry Leyva and members of the BHCC Board and community partners in welcoming back this unique eatery serving traditional Mexican cuisine with a healthy twist.

The event was co-sponsored by the Boyle Heights Chamber of Commerce with assistance from the Los Angeles Business Source Center and CD 14.

Restaurant owners Jerry and Mayra Vasquez were both raised in Boyle Heights and since childhood have dreamt of the day when they could establish a neighborhood eatery that provides delicious and healthy cooked meals. The LABSC assisted the owners in guiding them through much of the challenging environmental health and building and safety code requirements.  In addition, the LABSC helped with finding bank financing to pay for the required upgrades to the restaurant.

Visit them at 1949 East 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033 from 7am - 5pm (Tuesday thru Sunday).
